Trevelyan’s Pack and Cool is a family owned business operating from a large, modern, centralised site in Te Puke. We provide packing and coolstorage for green and gold kiwifruit as well as avocados.
Trevelyan’s Pack and Cool operate from a single large site in No 1 Road Te Puke.
We have 3 packhouses and 19 coolstores operating for the 2008 harvest season, packing approximately 7 million trays of green, gold and organic kiwifruit as well as 200,000 trays of avocados.
The kiwifruit harvest period is from mid March to June while the avocado harvest is from October to March. We have 70 permanent staff which grows to 700 employees during the kiwifruit harvest period. During this time we have lots of work available and run day and night shifts 7 days a week.
Laboratory and Orchard Advice
The on site Laboratory caters for all fruit sampling, maturity testing and pest monitoring. Orchard advice is freely available from our orchard rep team. There are timely field days throughout the year, which support key times in the growing calendar.
Packhouse
All three of our packhouses are located on the one site. Each packhouse has a main sizer running the latest Compac electronics’ paralleled with an online class 2 sizer. This allows accurate decision to be made when sizing fruit. Intensive training and comprehensive systems allows us to capture the best return of trays per bin for the grower.
Cool Storage
On site there are 24 coolstores with varying numbers of internal rooms. All Coolstores have high air flow and humidity. This inturn with great inventory management allows for low loss of fruit.
How we interface with Zespri
Trevelyan’s Pack and Cool to Zespri standards. All fruit is delivered to ship side as per Zespri shipping orders.
ECPI (Export Consignment Product Inspection)
Zespri will send a fruit order to Trevelyan’s. On receipt of this order Trevelyan’s will truck to the ships side the appropriate fruit to meet this order. The fruit is checked at the wharf prior to shipping to make sure the fruit is of the correct standard. Trevelyan’s over the years has been able to offer Zespri a consistently high quality product.
Consumer
Trevelyan’s are responsible for the quality of fruit, ten days into the market place. This allows for a reliable repeated purchase by the Consumer.
